    Hamilton at Hamilton

The Ancient Hamilton kilt which I acquired recently, at the mausoleum of the Dukes of Hamilton in Hamilton, Scotland. The mausoleum was constructed between 1842 and 1858. Problems with subsidence and flooding resulted in the later removal of the coffins of the dukes, which were re-interred elsewhere.

I've got some nice pics of Hamilton, but they are on my mobile (cellphone) so would be too small to post. Where Alex is now would take me 10 mins to get there.

Thanks for the picture, Alex. There was a show on TV recently which mentioned the claim that mausoleum has the worlds longest echo. Were you able to go inside and give it a try?

Would it be possible to get a closer shot Alex?

Friend Mike (who you met in Dumfries) is a Hamilton and I would like to show him his tartan close up!

    Happy to oblige, Trefor.

This is known as Ancient Hamilton - there is also a more garish version of the Hamilton tartan in which the green is replaced by red and the blue is replaced by a darker shade of blue.
