Very nice look. My sister just got 18 oz Rob Red from eBay, I'll have to show her this! It would be her first kilt, I gave her AoK and hair canvas for Christmas but she is left-handed which may present a challenge. . . have to remember to tell her about left-handed kilts too.

Handsome paneling, although it seems to create an echo? LOL

wow, very nice and good decision on the pleating!
I love that tartan too, it's my favourite red one
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Sydnie, this is the 7th kilt I've sewn left-handed. Despite what Barb says in TAoK, and what Elsie says about us "carhanders," making kilts left-handed isn't all that difficult. We just reposition the cloth so we're sewing left to right, for the most part.

Oh, and I can't take credit for the paneling - it was there when I bought the house.

Nice! Which mill is weaving non-military clan tartans in 18 oz.?

I wish I knew - that's one of the drawbacks of eBay. I recall that Robertson Hunting was used by an artillery regiment, but I don't think the Red was ever worn by anyone.

    A close-up of the pleats.

We've used the term "cheating the sett" here before - well, I "cheated the stripe." When I pleated to either the broad blue or the broad green stripes, it brought out the "lawnchair effect." But pleating to both the blue and green worked, especially with how similar the two are in tone.
