Hamish in his natural habitat - browsing a kilt stall

Nice kilt, but can anyone identify this earthy tartan?

More to follow shortly.

Great pics Alex, it was great to meet you. Hope your homeward journey wasn't too onerous. I'll add some of my own pics here later.

I find that picture of the Milton Keynes Pipe Band to be very interesting because, with their backs turned, you can see how much variation there is in the way that the hose are turned, flashes placed, and ghillies are tied.

Maybe Hamish will buy anither crook.

This calls for discussion with the retired Royal Navy guy and the chap in the Livingston kilt

The discussion continues among the x-markers

Soon the possibility of Hamish purchasing a crook is forgotten and they continue to enjoy the show.

Looking rather glum, for some unknown reason.

Then the Black Watch re-enactors marched in

This seemed to cheer up the x-markers.

The Black Watch re-enactors put on a fine demonstration.

There was also a splendid display of classic cars.

With our 'merican forumites in mind I photographed this fine Thunderbird, with its wee Stars & Stripes flag.

I thought you would also like to see this Chrysler.

As I was leaving to go home this final opportunity arose for a candid snap of three Hunters.
I arrived home at ten minutes past midnight, having set off at twenty past four in the morning.
It was a long day, but I enjoyed meeting you all.

Yes, home ok thanks Derek, bit of a hold up due to traffic leaving silverstone but otherwise fine. Hope everyone else got home safely too.

If this is the guy Hamish asked, and I'm almost sure it is he, then it is Red Gordon (weathered).

BTW, note the expresson on the lady with the plastic bucket
