| | | Harris Tweed kilt suit
Hi all! A few of you have seen pictures of me in my new Harris Tweed kilt jacket and vest, worn with various of my tartan kilts.
I also ordered some extra matching cloth for a kilt in the same pattern, and just completed it yesterday. This is what I wore in to work at the Scottish Tartans Museum today:
The tweed was woven by Catherine Campbell of the Isle of Harris. I have made several kilts from Harris Tweed in my day, but I have to say that Catherine's cloth is by far the softest feeling tweed I have worked with. The kilt is a pleasure to wear, and I anticipate wearing the kilt (without the jacket) even in the summer time.
I've paired it here with navy blue Lewis kilt hose and loden green garters. And (though you can't see them in the pic) the straps and buckles on this kilt are brown leather and brass by our very own Steve Fraser. Thanks, Steve!
Aye,
Matt

Aye,
Matt | Well done, Matt. You almost have a "London Scottish" look going with the tweed* and blue accessories.
Cheers,
Todd

Hey Matt,
I was toying with the idea of doing something like that (just for myself... not "general consumption") a few months ago when I started with the solids, but I got sidetracked. I think I may have to re-visit the issue... that looks GREAT!

Wow! That looks very much like a 21st Century outfit, only with your signature box pleats. Well done!

Matt,
That is a really sharp outfit. I like the blue hose and tie with the tweed.
If I was going to be nit-picky, my only quibble is that I think that shiny brown shoes would be better than the dull suede ones to better match the sporran.
Cheers
Jamie

At my first and (ahem) so far only kilt night, I was sporting the grey Ettrick tweed box pleat Matt made for me. Someone asked why I wasn't in tartan, and I simply asked, "Tweed's not Scottish now, is it?"
Matt, you are STYLIN', sir.
