Hawick Highland Games

The rabble arrive in Hawick for the Highland Games

Hawick Pipe Band and Hawick Scout Fellowship Pipe Band march along the High Street.

Passing the town hall the Chieftain o' the Games, Hawick Cornet Jamie Richardson and his lass take the salute.

Piper in profile, Mackie who lives next door to me.

When the band dismissed Mackie took a pic of the rabble

The Wizard of BC at Hawick's oldest building, Drumlanrig's Tower, mediaeval stronghold of the Black Douglases. Note the musket slot in the lower wall, the large windows are a much later alteration.

Lunch on the glass floor above the water wheel in the old Tower Mill.

The Chieftain says a few words at the Games.

Clan Turnbull tent.
More to follow shortly.

What a cool shot and interesting setting. So, um, what's underneath that glass floor?

Two brothers in McLaren kilts.

The Wizard of BC takes his throw in the Wellie Throwing contest.

The Wizard of BC hurls the haggis. The Wizard of BC won second prize with this throw. (Steve I have your prize here and will forward it to you).
Not just any old haggis but one fresh from the freezer of Lindsay Grieve.

Chas, The Wizard of BC and his wife Bobbie.

Winner of all the heavy events and overall winner Neil Elliot receives his prize from the Chieftain's Lass.

The Wizard of BC and Chas pass as the Chieftain and his lass relax.

Jig

Sailors Hornpipe

A kiss from the Chieftain for a young dance contest winner.

Portrait of Chas and ACaig

Two men with feathers in their cap, The Chieftain and ACaig who is a Scottish armiger.

Compere Rory Bannerman in conversation with a member of Melrose Pipe Band. Note that Rory wears an Argyle jacket with scrunched down hose and boots which is quite acceptable here in the south of Scotland.

The end of the games and as we leave to go home ACaig and Chas get into discussion with Cammy Renwick, leader of Hawick Pipe Band.
That's all folks.

Running out of nice things to say about your great pictures. It's always a pleasure when a new set of yours pops up in the Kilt Pictures forum. Thanks as always.
