Hawick Reivers Festival Hot Trod

I had to miss most of the three day Hawick Reivers Festival this year due to other commitments, but I did manage to get along to the hot trod at dusk on Saturday. This re-enacts the tradition of the townspeople setting out to retrieve their stolen property and to burn out the reivers' quarters.
As usual the hot trod was led by Hawick Scout Fellowship Pipe Band who have a fine pool of talented youngsters.

On the Hot Trod

Burn, Burn, Burn. The hot trod has reached the Reivers' encampment and the torches are used to start the blaze.

On my way back to the car park I tried an arty shot of me watching the fireworks from across the river. My Freedom Kilts Cargo model looks the part for a reivers event but the jacket looks too modern.

Another of the same, this time without using flash.
Thats all folks!

That's amazing how bright the sky looks without the flash.

Nice photos Alex. I prefer the second fireworks photo. The back lighting from the street light gives a nice effect.

Sir, such great pictures and a fascinating story, we have nothing like that here in Kansas unless you consider the rivalry between K-State and KU significant and to me definitely not historical.

Looks quite interesting there Alex. I was going to give you a visit on the Sunday but you were pretty tied up.
