Homecoming Border Clans Day at Langholm

Today was the last day of the Clan Armstrong Association Gathering at Langholm and in conjunction with this Clan Armstrong hosted the Homecoming Border Clans Day.

A peek inside the Clan Armstrong centre, most of their clan had already dispersed among the other activities which were taking place in and around Langholm Castle Holm.

Deservedly as the host clan, the Armstrongs had the prime table at the entrance to the Buccleuch Centre.

The Turnbulls were there too.

The Elliots were there to welcome visitors.

Clan Johnstone have gone through the procedures for recognition of an heir to their Chieftaincy in recent years and I was fortunate to meet their Chieftain who was extremely helpful, as we in Clan Cunningham are about to go through with a Petition to recognise a Chieftain.

Clan Moffat have also been down this route in recent years. The ladies looked rather dour but once I spoke to them they quickly lightened up and were extremely helpful.
More to come soon

After lunch the distant strain of Northumbrian Pipes beckoned and as I made my way over the brig to the Castle Holm I met this spinner woman.

I soon found the source of the music.

A magical place of mediaeval costumes.
