Kilt Kamp 2008 @ the Scottish Tartans Museum

Ladie & Gents,

Kilt Kamp has been underway since Monday this week and as of yet there have been no pics! This is partly my fault for forgetting to bring my camera till yesterday! I know a few of the guys have their own cameras, as well, and will no doubt be posting more pics when they get computer access. For now, here is a teaser...

The location of the workshop is immediately next door to the Scottish Tartans Museum. Same building, in fact. For those of you who have visited us before, there was previoulsy a little lengerie shop next to us. That lady has closed down and we have acquired the space. We will soon be diving half that space for office use and open up the dividing wall to make the front half part of the gift shop. Till that happens, though, it's a great empty area for Kilt Kamp!

A few of the individual participants (sorry, I didn't get everyone!)

Archie

Annie (the only female besides Barb! We had three women sign up, but one had to cancel early, and another had a last minute emergency. The rest are all men.)

Gene

Andy (thinking hard about his next pleat).

Bringing Barb T in for a consultation...

Barb and Peter discussing the finer points of piping.... wait, isn't this supposed to be a kilt workshop?

For those of you who missed all the announcements leading up to Kilt Kamp and are wondering what the heck this is all about, here's the web site:
http://kiltkamp.scottishtartans.org/index.html

Note you can still sign up for the seminars on Friday. Steve Ashton (Wizard of BC) of Freedom Kilts is coming in sometime this afternoon. He'll be giving a seminar on contemporary style kilts tomorrow. Barb will also talk on the ins and outs of kiltmaking. Bob Martin will be there to give a history of the kilt. And I'll be there talking about tartan. Then the day culminates with the Ceilidh in downtown Franklin to kick off the 12th annual Taste of Scotland festival this weekend.

Looks like a fun time, perhapse I can join you all someday. BTW the second "artsy" picture is pretty cool. The light playing on and highlighting the tartan is a neat effect.

That looks like a great time and I am looking forward to meeting folks tomorrow during the lectures (and hopefully seeing some of these kilts up close and personal!)

NEXT year. I've already told my family and my boss that I will be going next year!

Saving up already!

The horrible thing is that I'll be just six hours drive away in three weeks (sigh).
