Where did you find that hoodie? It's awesome
Family Dollar a couple years ago. I love that camo Rampart Lion. It kind of makes that casual Kilted look.

I wish they had something like that in my area. We have BBQ and chili cookoffs. Good Dutch Oven cooking is a real treat. I would love to hang out with some masters and swap techniques. Sounds like you had a great time.

But I gotta ask.. cobbler with gummies? I'm not sure if I'm greatly intrigued or simply horrified

So here is the story. Back in the day when I was Scoutmaster one of the real challenges was to teach boys to cook. It’s important that as leaders we let the boys plan their own menus and allow them to be creative. So when this young fella asked if he could add cinnamon gummy bears to apple cobbler, I said sure. When It was done, It was really good. The red cinnamon gummy bears had melted into the apple pie filling giving it a sweet spicy cinnamon flavor with some red color. I have wanted to try making one of these for at least 15 years now and Yesterday was the perfect day for it.

Well, my trick is kind of old school. Start with a 12 (or 14) inch Dutch oven. Place 3 or 4 canning jar rings in the bottom and pre-heat. While pre-heating, mix up your cake batter, and pour into a 9-inch cake pan. Then place the cake pan inside Dutch oven and bake.

If you 'forgot' the canning jar rings, you can make some from rolled up metal foil, or use some pieces of soup can (I'll let you figure that one out on your own) .

Now, THAT's a shot. Love the mountains in the background, and the event is just fantastic as well, AND it's obvious that you're having a great time

Sounds like he had the right idea for experimental cooking, and figured out the best way to make things taste better - Try it. The worst that can happen is it turns out bad and you need to start over.
