| | | Kilted Holiday in North West England
Last year, Ann and I had stayed a night at this hotel, to break our long car journey home from meeting Hamish. The hotel is situated at a motorway interchange, just a few miles inland from Southport and Liverpool. Ann liked the hotel and I had promised her we would return this year and stay for a week.
Before setting off I had said to David Dalglish that I would be wearing shorts on holiday as I didn't fancy walking around England kilted all week - however the denim and camo kilts were just so easy to wear that I wore them on six of the eight days. Despite being out and about kilted in busy Southport, Liverpool and Chester I never received any negative comments or sniggers nor was I asked the question. Most people simply ignored the denim kilt, though on one occasion I was invited to pose for a photo with a group of Spanish tourists in Liverpool, who instantly associated the denim kilt with the fact I was Scottish.
Ann got out and about on her mobility scooter every day.
We went on a day trip to Birkenhead where there was a vintage vehicle rally
While Ann had afternoon tea in the pierhead cafe, I went for a ride on this veteran tram
......and then returned on this classic bus.
This 1963 Austin A40 Farina caught my eye - not only because my uncle once owned one, but because I thought Derek and McClef would appreciate the Welsh flags. The car has had five owners, all of whom lived in Wales.
I took Ann to see the Albert Docks at Liverpool, which I had visited alone earlier in the year.
More to follow shortly

I took another photo of the statue of the emigrant family, from a different angle
The fourth member of the family, a small boy, is depicted playing with a crab, to indicate the connection with the sea.
There were boats to see in Albert Dock
.....and I took a photo of the Royal Daffodil, a ferry which links the various ports on the Mersey.
This is the new Liverpool Arena and conference centre, due to open early next year.
We also visited Chester Zoological Gardens
The Hunter Green camo print is always good to wear on zoo visits.
Ann studies the lion enclosure as one of the zoo's monorail trains passes overhead.

Wonderful photos Alex, thanks for them, and as Dee has said, all the best to Ann.

Great picture Alex, though I never made it much north of London, Liverpool would be one place to visit on my list.
