Kilted Segway Rider

Know kilted cops do this. Took my first VERY BRIEF spin this morning...neither the machine or I was injured - Whew!!

That's my green leather RKilt. Perfect garment for road trips.

Be careful with those things--they look like fun, but my town's mayor has been limping for a year after getting injured on one of those things. And didn't the guy who owned the company ride one off a cliff just recently?

From years of working with suicides I'd guess the owner riding off the cliff was a loud statement.

Was just up for a little bit - when I got off was kinda weird in the equilibrium dept...but guess I was riding a gyroscope. The lady who owned it was a pro - figure its like learning to ride a bike.

Easier, actually. My wife and I took a Segway tour and she had no problem, even though she cannot ride a bicycle as she cannot balance.

As to the owner story, it helps to know it was the "new" owner who had just purchased the company. It was not someone truly familiar with either the Segway or necessarily the proper operation thereof.

I will consider a kilt if we do this tour again.

You have the coolest pictures. I think you should keep a journal of all the places you go and the things you photograph, just so the rest of us can keep up with it all.

Excellent photo Ron, looks like a superb kilting activity. I've seen a few segways when I have been over in North America, including the kilted cop on the segway at New Hampshire Games whose picture I posted on xmarks.
I have only once seen a segway here in Europe. One arrived at Carlisle Airport on a visiting executive jet from North America and it was used around the airport while they were here.

Lucky you, Ron. You certainly look as if you are enjoying yourself.

They are practically banned here in the UK. Can't be used on the public highway as they are not a bicycle or a licenced vehicle; can't be used on the pavements (sidewalks) as they are a vehicle and the pavements are for pedestrians. So, private property only, but for most of us it is quicker and easier to walk the 20 or 30 paces to the flower beds.

Something more for the bucket list...
