| | Kilts at the Mardi Gras Party
Every year some friends of ours invite my wife Shelley and I to attend the invitation only 'Mystery and Fantasy Mardi Gras Party' here in Houston, and we always have a good time. Before we get to the photos, I should explain 2 points; 1, The party is formalwear with mask or 'theme costume' only, This year's theme was "We Want You, a 1940's USO Fantasy".
And 2, The event is sponsored by a primarly gay Mardi Gras Krewe.
Here's a couple photo's we got on the dance floor before it got too crowded;
Shelley and I, Shelley made her and our friend Mindy's 1940's outfits. About the white-tie rig, I figured since, in the 30's and 40's "formal" generally meant white-tie, (and I had the stuff anyway) I'd throw it on, along with the American Heritage tartan.
Here's Mindy as Rosie the Riveter with our host Neal.
The costumes were generally not as flamboyant as lasts year's 'Aladdan" theme, But it had to be a good season for all the surplus stores in Houston!
I run into a fellow XMarker, Tennysonw. There was another guy in a kilt there too, we all saw him, but I never had the camera!
This guy in the East German uniform must have been late to the surplus shop!
My wife collecting beads and young boys....
there were quite a few folks there!

| Looks like she's doing quite well. Perhaps she can offer some tips for success? Quote:

| Looks to me like you recreated the spirit of the day exactly.
Well done!
