| | | Kilts in the Wind Pictures
Every now and then a new kiltie asks about the wind. David Dalglish's pic of being kilted in a gale (pirated here, hope that's okay) got me to thinking, maybe if we post some photos of our kilts in the wind it would help the new kilties be more aware, or even relax, in the wind.
Here's David in a gale.

Not a pic, but a comment. Downtown Franklin is like a lot of other downtown areas -- rows of tall buildings on either side of a narrow street, making a veritible wind tunnel. Many times as I've been walking down the sidewalk to go to the coffee shop, or run drop a package in the FedEx box on the corner, etc., I've felt that the wind was brutally whipping my kilt around and feared exposure.....
....only to catch sight of my reflection in a shop window to discover that my kilt was barely moving at all!
In other words, it seems that the wind playing with the kilt usually feels much worse than it actually is.
My experiences are with heavy weight woolen kilts. I'd be much more cautious in lighter weights.

At time when you wear the kilt, it seems so natural. you hardly know you are wearing a kilt. I think it is good when you have the opportunity to wear your kilt in windy conditions then you know that you are not wearing pants. I have to add it can be embarrassing at times

Occured to me that the only two times I recall the wind causing exposure were when I was wearing Utilikilts.
Once from an unexpected grate in the sidewalk, the blast blew the entire kilt up. Entire hem of the kilt was over my head. But like Bradley and Marilyn could happen with any kilt.
Other time was rafting the river, standing in the bow attempting to dry the wet UK survival I'd been wading in. The canyon winds did a snake dance on me and flipped the back high just as a guy in the back of the raft was taking a scenic picture. He got a scenic picture all right!
Worse, it was an AA raft trip and I still haven't heard the end of it. He gave me a copy of the pic and it ain't pretty what's under there. Lost the pic in my last hard drive crash. No matter, no way I could post it here.
And I certainly agree with Matt, the only way to get used to kilts in the wind is to wear kilts in the wind and get used to it.
But come on guys...there have to be more kilts in the wind pics out there...Ain't nothing prettier than pleats dancing in the wind...

Good GOD that is creepy.
VERY funny. I like the finger on the lips as if to say "oops" look. CLASSIC.
Also... I WANT to look to see what the tatto is on your thigh (I appreciate tattoo art and Brad has LOTS of them), but I'm scared to look too close. All I need is Kelly walking into the room and asking me "WHAT are you doing?!" Tough to explain to a girlfriend. HAHAHAA Quote:
