    Ladies Cilt

I know, I know some of you might tell me off and say ladies cilted skirt, but when my wife bought her cilt 26 yrs ago, Hector Russell in Inverness sold 6yd Ladies Kilts. Elaine dug hers out the other day but unfortunately it don't fit anymore. She used to wear it a lot but she's still keeping it all the same. Its in the Munro tartan.

Though lady's kilted skirts typically have 3 or 4 yards of cloth, there is no rule that says they cannot have more.

However, one odd thing that I do notice is that this kilt seems to close on the right hip, as a man's kilt, and not the left hip, which is more typical of a lady's kilt skirt.

With 6 yards of cloth, and a closure at the right, this is effectively a man's kilt! Not saying that your wife shouldn't wear it -- I'm sure it looks stunning on her. But if you want to wear it, as well, why not! :-)

Too bad it no longer fits. It looks like a good item, and one worth altering if she still wants to wear it.

If you decide to sell it, though, my advice would be to sell it as a kilt, not a skirt -- you'll get a higher price!
