Lang Sandy & Hamish

On the way to tonight's Dumfries Kilts Night I made a brief photocall by the statue of Lang Sandy Armstrong, which was erected close by where he lived at Rowanburn.

Lang Sandy Armstrong stood over six feet tall. After the Union of the Crowns, the Borders Reivers were no longer tolerated by King James VI and Sandy and his eleven sons were all hanged in 1606
Fast forward to Dumfries where the usual suspects of Pour1Malt, David Dalglish and myself were honoured by the company of Hamish, who was staying overnight at Ferintosh. Here we are seen leaving the Rifft Valley restaurant, replete after a meal and about to commence the customary pub crawl. One of the other participants will post a full photo report tomorrow and this single picture will serve as a sneak preview.

Thanks for the photos Alex, I look forward to the full photo report. Have a great night.

Can someone please list the three tartans on the right for me, for interest's sake? The first is Isle of Skye, I think, but I don't know the others. And, heck, I could be wrong about the Skyle...
Thanks!

And what's with the jackets and slickers? It's June for cripes sake. Is this the sort of reception we are to expect when 50,000 X Marksers descend on Storrington next year?
You folks over there in the auld country need to speak to your respective legislatures and get that sort of thing fixed.
Seriously, good teaser photos. It's good to see some of the "Travel Scotland" picket line and protesters return to the scene of the crime.

Fantastic outfit, beautiful greys...the red in the tartan stands out nicely.
And bonus points for not being afraid of a bit of Scottish rain.
