Thanks for the positive comments! My son loves hearing them too.

After further review, It does close the opposite of a kilt, which makes it a kilted skirt I guess. Ooops! It looked right to me, but I can't tie a tie on someone else either. I took a look at it I think we can modify it a little and make it salvidgable. This is also why the fringe and kilt pin are wrong. It is 100% wool.

I appreciate the ideas about the sgian don'ts. Everyone needs a writing utensil right? I'll have to play around with this.

If it is velcro and easy to switch go for it. I posted to Johns Pics don't worry because 96 % of the people don't know, 4 % don't care and the 1 % who might say something to a kid about it are Idiots. :rolleyes:

I humbly suggest that you not get overly concerned about which side your son's kilt closes - important thing is that he looks GREAT in it. Very masculine.

In Scotland there is frequently flexibility on the 'which side does it close' rule for children - few families can afford to keep buying progressively larger full kilts as a boy grows rapidly.

As a child, in Scotland, I frequently saw boys wearing modified kilted skirts. Adding a sporan, and a belt, makes it unambigiously male, regardless of the direction it wraps.

Even though I noticed that there was something odd about the kilt, the boy looks great in it. Don't break your neck to appease the idiots who would react negatively.

Even though I asked the question earlier in the thread, it was not meant derogatory, just curious. I also don't think that it really matters, for anyone of any age. Glad he enjoys wearing it and is proud of his kilt.
