    Loads of comments/remarks

Last weekend the fiddle player in our band got married. She's a fab girl and together with her now husband, organised a really cool wedding at a wonderful venue called, Llancaiach Fawr Manor House. The peaceful, rural setting of Llancaiach Fawr Manor belies the turmoil of its early years. Built in 1530 for Dayfydd ap Richard, it was designed to be easily defended during the turbulent reigns of Tudor Kings and Queens. By the start of the 17th Century the Pritchards had prospered and the house was extended in 1628 to demonstrate their status. Today the Manor is furnished and presented as it was during the civil war in 1645 when Charles 1st reputedly came to visit. Well that’s the history lesson done. All the decorations for the wedding were all hand made by various friends including the wedding cake of which my wife and her friend had to decorate on the morning of the wedding. Also we played in the night with our band and had a good o’l Twmpath (Ceilidh). It was all go but brill day and I had loads of remarks and comments about my dress code.
Firstly, here is the cake decoration

The old barn alongside was where the ceremony and evening bash was held.
The Bride entering with her dad

During the signing of certificates the wife and moira together with the brides brother played and sang Elton Johns ‘Can you feel the love tonight’

And the happy couple couple coming out from the old barn after the ceremony.

After the ceremony we had an hour or so relax with drinks etc then we were given a tour of the manor house, which is a living museum with people dressed throughout the house in the period costumes and speaking as they did in 1645, which is a sort English / Welsh slightly spoken backwards sometimes.
The Manor House and some of its servants beating some bedding

Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures inside the house.
Then we had a beautiful meal in a large conservatory overlooking the manor grounds

Then back to the old barn and the first dance and then the Twmpath started not long after.

And finally a few pics of why I received so many comments and remarks. It wasn't because of my Cilt, it was my tie.
No one ever mentioned my Cilt all day.

    The offending article ..

    That’s it for now.
We have our folk club 5th birthday bash this Friday and some xmarkers will be joining us, some from abroad. Will post pics early next week.

I'll bet that was a doo and a half. Love the living history stuff. Cheers Derek. Best regards to the happy couple.
