    Loon Mountain

Today I rode the gondola up Loon Mountain

From the top gondola station there was a view of one of the mountain lakes where the Loon (bird) might be found, from which the mountain takes its name.

Mount Flume through my 20x zoom lens, from the observation tower.

Walking among the glacial rocks on the slopes of Loon Mountain.

Emerging from the Cathedral Steps, one of the passages through the rocks in the glacial caves on Loon Mountain

From the observation tower at the top gondola station can be seen Loon Mountain's north peak, altitude 3,075 feet AMSL. A grassy slope, which forms the Sunset ski run in winter, offers a route to the top.

Looking down from the summit, the white building in centre is the top gondola station from which I have walked.

Utilikilt on the north summit plateau of Loon Mountain. The ski tow brings skiers up here during the snow season, but in September you need to walk up here from the gondola.

Looking down from the summit with a 20x zoom onto the Village of Loon Mountain timeshare resort where I am staying this week.

During the Games one does not get the chance to see all the wonders of Loon Mountain........ Thanks for providing the photo excursion.

Thanks for sharing. You must have very steady hand or using tripod when shooting with 20 x zoom.
