    Mayne Island getaway

    I took a week off in October on Mayne Island, one of the Canadian gulf islands. Anna joined me part way through. We had reasonable weather and got lots of hiking in. I didn't wear p***ts the whole time.
    This is the dock at Galiano Island on the way there.


    Our ferry will followed this one over to Mayne.


    The view through the trees from our cottage in the late afternoon.

    We hiked up Mount Parke, which has really good views.
    The US San Juan islands are in the far background.


    Anna on the helicopter pad near the summit. Prevost, Salt Spring, and Vancouver Islands are in the background.


    I'm a couple of feet from the cliff, which is long way down. You can see the smoke from the pulp mill at Crofton on Vancouver Island.


    We had a really relaxing time. I could see getting into island life, maybe when we retire.
