More of Argyll

This time Loch Scammadale, and a wee tale of Clan MacDougall

Loch Scammadale can be found just 10 miles south of Oban along a single track road that leads nowhere.
This tranquil loch holds a mystical secret in the form of a crystal ball brought back from the holy lands in the 13th century by the Clan MacDougall, the crystal ball could predict the death of the holder, it was reputed to have been passed hand to hand through the clan preceeding battle, he whom the crystal predicted death was sent home, in order to avoid his fate in battle, the remaining clansmen continued along Loch Scammadale the crystal ball lept from the sporran of the bearer and fell into the loch, this was seen as such a bad omen by the clan chief that he ordered his men home, all to fight another day.
The crystal ball has not been recovered and it is said remains there to this very day.

Thank's for looking

Chris

Super photo, magnificent reflections.
Beautiful spot.
