    More pictures

Elaine and myself had planned to meet up with Hamish and everyone in Harpenden this Sunday but unfortunately we could not make it in the end due to a last minute gig coming in ... the entertainment for an evening wedding party on Sat had cancelled and we got asked if we could help them out. The money was to good to turn down. However we did manage to get out walking during the day however. This time we took off to the Monmouth and Breconshire Canal to then head uphill to 'The Goose and Cuckoo' .. a fine farmers pub with several real ales. So here are some piccys from the walk over a few threads

About a half hour walk after getting off the bus you reach the canal.

A picture of us all at a canal bridge

One of the hundreds of cottages that spread along the whhole length of the canal .. its total length about 40/45 miles

Arwyn and me looking a bit strange at one another below one of the few signs that tell you that a pub exists up the hill.

On our second or third round in the Goose

Coming back we took nothing but 'rights of way' and forest tracks. The day had started very overcast but it all soon burnt off in the midday sun.

    Another picture of the views

Three hours later and we were back down on the road at a watering hole by the bus stop. We got there early enough to have a few more beers ..

Hope you enjoy the piccys again

Wonderful pictures Derek. My wife and I passed through Wales about 35 years ago, so I guess it is time to get back. Also, while doing some genealogy research recently, I found a Mary Loyd (probably Lloyd) in North Carolina in about 1765 as an ancestor. I see there is a Lloyd tartan listed for Wales and it is quite nice. Another reason to see some more of your part of the world. Maybe next summer.

Best wishes and keep the pics coming.

What a lovely life you had!! There are lots of Scenic walks here in Vancouver, but I don't believe any of them ends with the lovely pubs like the ones you have in Wales.

    Good Job.

So where are you going next week?

    Derek,

That picture of the one cottage is fantastic! Now to get my backyard to look like that.

However the sign of the Goose is great!

    As always great pictures.
