Mothering Sunday Trossachs Tour

Saturday shopping at Gretna with Ann and John and Yvonne.
Wearing my Glasgow University kilt as Ann and I were headed straight from there to Glasgow for an overnight in a hotel...

...for an early start Sunday morning. Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust's Mother's Day outing to the Trossachs. One of the last AEC Reliance coaches built before the mark ceased production thirty years ago. Nowadays it is normally used only for schools runs in Ayrshire but today it was hired for a classic coach tour.

Heading over the Campsie Fells from Glasgow north towards the Trossachs, this is the view from the viewpoint on the Crow Road between Lennoxtown and Fintry.

We stopped for a time in Callander. The coach park is on the site of the former railway station which closed in 1965, in the background is a bridge where the road crossed over the railway.

Loch Achray. The big house in the background was once a hotel but is now a timeshare complex.

A pause on the Duke's Pass route from Callander to Aberfoyle, with Ben An in the background.
More to follow shortly

We spent about three hours in Aberfoyle where we had a meal.

and watched the falconers

There was also whisky tasting arranged

All too soon it was time to leave.

On the way back to Glasgow we passed Glengoyne distillery.

Coming down High Street Glasgow towards Glasgow Cross.

The end of the journey and Ann bids farewell to some of the others before our drive home to Hawick in the car.

Ah to sit back in comfort while someone else drives taking in all the sights is a marvelous way to spend the day.

Lovely photos, Alex, and it looks as though you both had a great day. Those shots above Lennoxtown remonded me of many happy times and I presume you went through Fintry and Killearn on your way to Callander from there - all Galbraith and Buchanan country.
