| | | My New Denim Utillikilt
This is a pic of me in my new kilt that my wife bought for me. Its a Utillikilts Denim Kilt (got it off the scratch and dent). Its one of the first I've seen on there and it is a little long but my wife says she likes it that way, soooo....
I am on my mother's deck in Edenton, North Carolina and am enjoying a glass of 10 year old single malt Bushmills' Irish Whiskey. Oh yeah and I'm wearing my Craic Wisely t-shirt (Celtic band out of Grand Rapids, MI). Oh yes I need to add that it was in the 70s this day while it was snowing back home in Michigan
I really like this kilt and was surprised with how different it is from my Utillikilt Workman's, which is currently my only other kilt. I am having a little problem with the seams and hem curling. I machine dried it on tumble because I didn't have time to hang dry. I'm not sure if that made a difference or not.
Lastly this is also the kilt I wore when I flew from Chicago Midway to Norfolk, VA. I've never flown kilted before, other than the usual stares, no problems. I was a little worried about the metal detector. This kilt fits great around the waist so I didn't have to worry about taking the belt off (which you have to do now). All in all a really good experience!

That's not at all too long, especially for a UK. Looks good on you.

Great shot and a great tale! I'm hesitant to fly in a UK ('cause mine is the kind that doesn't have the waist snaps, thank goodness). Enjoy it (with or without the whisky.)

I appreciate the kind words and opinions. I have really enjoyed the new kilt. I am surprised at how much. We (my family) love coming down to visit my mother in North Carolina, I can completely understand why she chose to retire here.
24.5 inches really should be too long but I think it works with the belly somehow. Anyway glad to have another opinion.
I posted a thumbnail pic because I thought people where having problems with the larger pics. (Are some of us still on dial-up??) But I thought the post lost some impact.

That looks like a beautiful place. New kilt and a whisky in that setting makes for one happy guy, right?

Bet you find yourself wearing that denim kilt a LOT on weekends...I do mine! It'll soften just like jeans.
I use the weighted clips and hang dry mine so no problem with curling.
And, I'm still on dial up out here in the canyonlands...I've learned to multitask...do do something else when the huge pics are downloading.

Lookin' good. Almost purchased one of those when I worked at UK, but they never got a 44S in stock when I was there. Here in the Seattle area, it was sunny and in the upper 70s to lower 80s... Still wore my 9 yard 16 ounce wool Armstrong, though. After all, it was NTD (Nat'l Tartan Day)...

Excellent kilt and excellent scenery. The Old Navy hat goes nicely with the denim kilt.
