New pic. Solid colored shirt, sans belt, kilt needs a touch of the iron, sorry for the expression, sinus headache going on. I do have a nice red tie that would add that little extra pop with the square and garters. I am eventually going to get a waistcoat to match the jacket, just low on the list. Like I said, this is a work in progress, my wardrobe has been growing since I've begun my student teaching

If the colors and tones of tie and shirt are more subtle and really look better in person, go for it. A waistcoat might be nice as an option, but I don't think you need a waistcoat with a kilt. Actually, I don't think I would wear that shirt with a vest; you wouldn't see enough of the pattern. I would use a different pocket square; try a color from your tie, maybe the violet. Good luck with the sleeves; I would discuss what you want with the tailor before leaving!

    No sporran?

I know you're not necessarily going for the "traditional" look, but since you have a kilt-cut jacket, garter ties, and other traditional kilt accessories, a sporran would really give it a nice touch and break up the black swath on the front.
