    Nuther night downt' Ferret

Went out for a couple last night. All very spur of the moment but oft the best nights are.

My son plays in a band called Vox Population (As seen on you-tube, myspace... and Google) and they host an open mike night at the Mad Ferret on the last Wednesday of every month. We thought we'd bob along and get amongst it.

Vox Population get the night going with the opening set.

Katy, singer, songwriter, poet, great talent.

David and Katy pair up for a co-written song.

    Jack playing Percussive guitar.

David gives guitar backing for another poet Ben.

Chris (in Black Watch) X Marker Philip Tibbetts (in Black Country, he designed the tartan, click for more details) and Me (In Dress MacDonald)

    Me and Philip.

My boy David, Me, Dan (the bonkers drummer, but then all drummers are) Philip, John, Phil.

    My lovely wife and meeself...

It's looks like a great evening, and so nice to see the Black Country tartan actually in a kilt!I've just been asked to make a kilt in it so I've sent Philip a message to get hold of some.
And of course nice to see you in your new Dress Gordon as well!!

I was thinking the very same thing! I'll have to try the youtube search for the band to check out the music.

Some You-tube links here. Different night but hey, who's countin'

    Vox Population. Narcissus

Maggot Brain, a cover of the Funkadelic track.

The pub is run by a Mancunian who was heavily into the Madchester scene in the 80's, gettin' down at The Haçiendoh with Bands like The Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays to name but a couple. The name of his pub is the Mad Ferret (as in Mad Fritt awright?) and is probably the best live music pub venue in town.

Great shots. It looks like a nice place to have a pint or three in and listen to your local favorites.

Man... I still LOVE those bands. The only difference is that, now, they're on my iPod instead of a dubbed C90 and walkman.

I love his band posters in the background. I think I have every album pictured.

I really like how comfortable and natural you look in the kilt English Bloke. Thanks for sharing.
