    Over 22yrs in the attic

Sorting through various boxes in our attic we stumbled over a Cilt that the wife attempted to make me well over 22yrs ago. It was never really finished and got put aside. It still fits and is perfectly ok for wearing around the house and going on local errands. It is 16oz pure wool (Douglas I think). There are 27 3" pleats. Here a couple pics.

Looks good! It just proves that a kilt never goes out of style. Have you thought about about getting Barbs book and adding any finishing touches it may need?

I'm not really the best in math, but 27 x 3 inch is 81 inch. What is you hip measurment then? On the picture it doesn't seem to be much. Unless 3 inch is total material used per pleat and not only the visible part.

Otherwise nothing to blame. Good looking kilt. If something is unfinished it doesn't show.

    Regards!

After the BBC programme Cash in the Attic maybe BBC Wales/Cymru should make one called Cilts in the Attic!

What an amazing rediscovery - well worth its returning to your wardrobe!

    Well done Elaine!

I wish I could still get into kilt I had 22 years ago! I'm surprised after all those country pubs you keep showing us where you stop for a beer (or two) it fits you. It looks very good by the way but I just have to think you must have a tapeworm or something

It really looks good Derek, it just shows how timeless the kilt is, I guess the secret of why it still fits must be all the walking you do, nonetheless it looks great, wear it well.
