An overseas visitor... Part 2 !!!

This week end we had the pleasure to greet and host, arriving from Virginia USA,via Scotland, X marker Mael Colium aka Ern Malcolm .

Mael will be posting his whole trip to Europe, step by step.

He will soon be treating us with a full account of his voyage.

There will be plenty of photos, rest assured! So, to use Redshank’s words, the following will simply act as a taster.

    Coming up the mountain hill…

    A first impression …

Ern brought gifts for each member of the family.

Highland coo back sac, small bells to chase the bears away and all kind of sweets for the girls.

Gorgeous pewter paraphernalia and Godiva chocolates for Lady Chrystel.

Whisky fudge, high tech sgian dubh, X Marks the Scot cap badge and cloth dandelions for me… It was like Christmas morning !

The next day I put on the cap badge and dandelions on my doolander bonnet.

    I was mighty proud !

    Fellow Xmarkers !

    Ready for action !

    Here we go !

    To be continued…

    Best,

    Robert

Well done Robert, I was hoping you would post some pics of the great man's arrival and time with you, I know he was very much looking forward to it.

Wonderful photos Robert I must admit an inkling of envy of Ern's trip. I look forward to the continuation and Ern's report and photos.

I wouldn't class me as cool, but he did get to meet the Duchess of Argyll in her home

    Looks like fun!
and that's just about the finest box-pleated kilt I've ever seen
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I'm glad that Ern is having such a grand time, I'm ever so jealous and sorry I was unavoidably detained by work commitments and so missed meeting him and all the other X Markers at the Gathering. He is the epitome of the kilted gentleman.

Nay worries, I'm sure there will be a next time.

Paul? If it's Robert's double box you are refering to you should visit Lady Chrystel's website for more examples of how sad it is to be skint. Don't quote me; but if you provide the cloth I believe you can have one for only 200 euro's. I have one on my wish list but I'm currently waiting for either a lottery win or the pound to dominate the currency markets and the euro to fall on it's arse. I'm depressed now... Neither are likely.
    Best Regards John
