Pacific Northwest Tour, PART I (a) – Orcas Island

Pacific Northwest Tour, PART I – Orcas Island

I heard it was beautiful. I heard the people there were laid back. They told me I’d love it there. Turns out it’s all true.

It’s long been my wish to visit the Pacific northwest. My curiosity was piqued a few years ago when I took an assessment and was told Seattle was my kind of place. When my best bud, Ken, suggested recently an inexpensive way to get there, I jumped at the chance. So, last week we set off for a little tour of one corner of Washington State, and I got to scratch my itch.

$75 got us from Cincinnati to Bellingham, WA. From there we proceeded to Orcas Island by ferry at Anacortes.

Hiked around Moran State Park for a bit…

Sort've like they've gone home. How far were you from from Seattle?

We drove 800 miles around Olympic National Park, passing through Seattle on the way.

    Via the highways,

60 miles north on I-5, 15 miles west on Hwy 20, and about 10 miles via ferry to the NNW. So, direct-line distance, probably about 50 mi or so.

Great pictures--I took the assessment from your link and most of my recommendations came back to the Seattle area too. I guess I need to get up there more often!
