| | | Pattern shirt and solid kilt
Another combination of a patterned/hawaiian shirt with a solid color kilt (my PK in a brown/black herringbone), and stone colored hose. I feel it looks good.
And BTW, both this ensemble and the one on the Hawaiian shirts thread were my attire for the day while at work and none of the ladies I work with made any comments. And if they thought it did not work they would, trust me!

I agree, Rob, that shirt works well with the plain kilt. Patterned shirts DO work well with plain kilts.
On a slightly different tack: admittedly, I am no expert when it comes to Hawaiian shirts (in fact, I'll admit I know nothing about them!), but to me they are the brash, gaudy, multicoloured shirts, bedecked with drawings of swaying palm trees and grass-skirted nubile wenches! I would never have known that your shirt in these photos is of the Hawaiian variety. Thanks for the education.

I think it is an excellent coordination of colors. The shirt compliments the kilt beautifully. I think your picture is a perfect example of how you can look "well dressed" and at the same time be casually dressed. That's one of the great things about solid color kilts, the wide variety of tops that you can wear.
Although I do love my tartans, of my 18 kilts, only 4 are tartans. Three are camos, and the rest are solids.

I think you must be getting the hang of it. Your pics get better and better.
Shirt is patterned without being gaudy, and the PK is awesome!

Ham, while some Hawaiian shirts are "brash, gaudy, multicoloured shirts, bedecked with drawings of swaying palm trees and grass-skirted nubile wenches" (and there is nothing wrong with any of that, esecially the nubile wenches!), I am not sure if this particular shirt would be classified as Hawaiian or just patterned. The pattern is pineapples and leaves, so from that perspective, it would fit the bill as Hawaiian. I also agree that when I think Hawaiian shirt, I think more colors and a bolder shirt. As may be, I am having fun trying out some new options with my kilts, especially my solid ones. In reality, a solid color kilt should pair nicely with any shirt that one would previously worn with a similar colored pair of trousers.
Now, being able to match (or accept) patterned/Hawaiian shirts with tartan kilts is somewhat in the future for me. Matt has posted some pictures of a gentleman achieving a very nice look with it, but I am not at that level yet.
Cloves, thanks! Glad you enjoy the pictures, and the PK is awesome! I feel honored that I was able to get 2 of the final PK's that Jeff created. This one, and a grey twill lined with Black Watch for colder weather. Jeff did excellent work, and I would like to find a way to bring it back.
