Hammer Throw - Neil Elliot

A new and promising young athlete, not listed in the programme, who was introduced by the commentator as 18 year old Kyle. He went on to win one of the throwing events.

56lb weight over the 13 foot bar - Garry Hagan

Young Kyle clears the 13 foot bar with the 56lb weight - but the more experienced Mark MacDonald of Dumfries went on to win the event by being the only one to clear 14 feet.

Are those traditional sports bras and shorts the dancers are wearing? I don't recognize the tartan.
If you can avoid it never get into a fair fight.

56lb weight over the 13 foot bar by Mark Hunter, alias Shrek.

Malcolm Cleghorn clears the 13 foot bar.

Tug o'War.
Scottish pride took a dent when our team of heavies was defeated in the Tug o'War by the GERMANS!!
Ah well there's always next year!
