A visit to Perth Highland Games on Sunday 15th August

Another informal shot, this time of some members of Rob Roy Pipe Band from Kingston, Ontario.

The beer tent. Note kilted gent with pink Hawaiian print shirt.

Some kilt outfit ideas - I think the black kilt works well with the checked shirt.

    Youthful drum major

The home band, Perth and District, wearing the New Perth tartan

Edmonton Boys Pipe band from Canada, tartan is Red Erskin

Penicuik & District Pipe Band, tartan is Muted MacNaughton

Rob Roy Pipe Band from Kingston Ontario, appropriately wearing MacGregor tartan.

City of Regina Pipe Band, from Canada, wearing MacTavish tartan.
    One more instalment to come

The pictures make us all wish we had been there. A special thank you for taking the time to mention each tartan for identification.

    Thanks

Nice job Alex. I always appreciate your great photo spreads. I too like that you noted the tartans being worn, always nice to see them in real life vs. the computer swatches!

    Thanks again,
    Brooke

Aye, great pics my friend. Struck me that if there were no identification to the photos one would be hard put to know where these games took place. Highland games seem much the same all over the world - and that is wonderful!

My dad used to play with the Edmonton Boy's Pipe Band, circa 1958. Looks like they've changed their sporran since then... he passed on his vintage horsehair one to me.
