I've got to say I never expected to see gators in S. Dakota.
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun on your trip. The Black Hills area has a lot of history and fun things to see. (I was there 2 weeks ago, and 28 years ago).
I've never done the train chasing thing - I'm more apt to ride them with my sons.
I'm not celtic; I inherited it from my children.

We ride first, and then we chase. It's more fun (for us at least!!) that way. Best of both worlds and all that.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised myself... It was at a place called Reptile Gardens.

Perhaps this year will be the year I get to go to Sturgis. But at least I can live vicariously. Great photos!
Experience is something you don't get untill just after you need it.

I remember driving through Sturgis, in August, about 28 years ago. That was something I'll never forget.
One of my co-workers is taking his vacation time so he can go to Sturgis this year.
