I'm curious to see how the St. Thomas Episcopal P&D Band does in the juvenile comps do, as well as the St. Thomas Alumni.

I had gone along to cheer on Colum Cille, Clan Cunningham's official pipe band, from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, having met many of the band at my clan gathering at New Hampshire Games last year.
Here the pipers tune up.

The drummers

Marching into the arena

Marching on

Circle

Marching off at the end of the performance.
Unfortunately Colum Cille placed sixth of the eighteen in their heat, not quite good enough to make the finals as only the first four bands from each of three heats went forward.

The big drum

Two members of Colum Cille.

Me with Mary 2.0, thus named to avoid confusion with another Mary who also plays in the band.

You all know by now of my enthusiasm for 'merican women, this time the little lady on my arm is Trisha from Pensicola Florida.
One more instalment to come.

A different kind of pipe at the World Pipe Band Championships.
Kilt tartan is Freedom of Scotland.

RAF Waddington Pipe Band on the march.

RAF Halton Pipe Band on the march.

Northern Constabulary Pipe Band

Ogden Legion Pipe Band from Calgary. It really is a small world, The parents of one of their members live in Sooke where they are neighbours of one of my cousins.

Pasadena Scottish Pipes and Drums from California USA. I thought I recognised that distinctive drum from somewhere, checking my photo archive I see that I photographed this band at Ventura in 2009.

Pitlochry & Blair Atholl Pipe Band warming up.
Note the Strathclyde grain whisky distillery in right background.

lastly Central Scotland Police Pipe Band marching into the arena for their performance.

Thankyou Alex for letting us have an insight of the big day. It would be wonderful to be able attend the event one day.

So many kilts ...awesome!
Interesting to note how the general level of dress worn by pipebands seems to have become less formal. I'm also seeing much less white hose...
