Picture from today's Dragon Boat race

I raced with Toddish McWong's Gung Haggis Fat Choy Dragon Boat team. We did 3 seeding heats and was in the final for the Adult Mix B division. After 2 minutes and 49 second, we won the race by 6 second. Although we were disappointed for not receiving medals or trophy, but we celebrated our victory in a nearby pub.

Here is the team picture we took before the second heat

Nice team picture, sounds like you had a good day regardless of trophies.

    Raphael,

Congratulations to you and your team!

Like Mr. MacDougall, I would have loved a picture of your vessel.

    Cheers

Cool pictures. But, I'll make a third request for a boat picture!

The dragon boat can sit up to 22 paddlers with one drummer and one steer person. So, we can have up to 24 people on a boat at a time. The Drummer set the rhythm for the paddlers and keep them focus by calling out different drill.

Dragon Boat racing is lots of fun and we, the Chinese people, have been racing dragon boats for thousands of years. I am very proud to be part of this tradition.

I don't have a picture of the boat that we raced on yesterday, but I can give you guys a taste of what a naked dragon boat looks like:

This is a picture of what fully dressed dragon boats look like at a big festival.

Too cool, Raph! Congrats on the win.

Calgary has a huge Dragon Boat festival each summer. Calgary Transit has a team, but I've never been out to see the races. Perhaps this year I'll have to check them out.
