pleating the wool

I added a pic in my gallery of the pleating I did on some 15 ounce wool. It isn't all stitched yet but every bit will be hand stitching. The next one, same fabric, will probably be pleated to the stripe.

That's pleatastic! Looks like you've got some nice, sharp pleats going on there Bubba. I'm still in awe of you guys that can sew your own kilts. Especially after I found out there was math involved! :P

Rufus, other than measuring for the aprons, I do the pleating by eye. I don't bother doing all the calculations. I'm lazy, I am.

I picked it up at Hancock Fabrics for $4 a yard on clearance. They usually have some nice stuff on the sale racks.

It looks really good bubba. It's nice to see a kilt under construction.

No doubt you'll post some pic's of the finished project too. Does a kilt take long for you to make?

I'll spend a week on a kilt, mostly because I don't push it and I'm busy with other things. If I really concentrated on it a couple days would do it. This one might take a little longer because I have an apartment to clean up for the landlord and we have some damage to repair.

i can t even succeed in pleating them to the end yet...when it is to pleat a bit more for the waist...

I just layed out the pleats in the second kilt. This one to the stripe. I don't think I care for it with this pattern.
