Purple at our SCD Christmas Class Party

My lovely Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess and I attended our Scottish Country Dance class Christmas party last night.

We had a lot of fun and did very well except for the Irish Rover (F.Y.I. The Irish Rover is a really fun dance but it is both complicated and very, very fast so it is unforgiving for those that screw up...and those diagonal half rights and lefts YIKES! )

It seemed a good night for purple!

    My lovely lady and I

Evidently others thought is was a good night for purple as well. This is the F-H.C.A.G. and Jonathan (a member of the Red Thistle Dancers demonstration team and a really nice fellow, though he does get sleepy after 9:00 PM )

I think I have found the perfect SCD outfit

Lewis hose, traditional garter ties (so much more comfortable than the elastic ones), ox horn sgian dubh, and Fergusson Brit sporran all from Matt Newsome at the Scottish Tartans Museum, Isle of Skye tartan model Freedom Kilt (whose pockets were great for stashing my crib sheets), and Heritage shirt from Empire Canvas Works (the shirt breathes very well for vigorous dancing and while isn't quite as dramatic as a "ghillie/highlander/Jacobite shirt", it blends in as one with its full sleeves). Lastly the outfit is sans belt a la' cajunscot and Riverkilt (the Freedom Kilt fits so well it doesn't need a belt and it makes the outfit more comfortable)

    Cheers

    Jamie

Jamie you look wonderful, as does Star, diagonal half rights and lefts sounds interesting, I personally do not wear my ghillie brogues when going dancing all that lacing and unlacing over and over seems a bit much, however a very effective outfit nonetheless.

All looking good. Yes the Irish Rover is not an easy dance to learn, I got drafted into the set which demonstrated the Irish Rover to the rest of the class last week before they tried it, no doubt I will be doing it again later on this evening when we have our last class before we break for Christmas.
