    Red Hackle Tartan

Does anyone out there have a Red Hackle Tartan kilt. I'm a big fan of the Black Watch tartan, and I'm interested in the Red Hackle. Help me out and show some pics of this kilt if you've got them.

I've seen theirs. I was looking to see if any of our members might have one.

A while back I remember someone posting something about a Canadian Regiment called the Red Watch and it's tartan was described as being like Black Watch, but with red lines in it. Is this what they were talking about?

Possibly, that's all the red hackle tartan is. It's just Black Watch with two different red stripes in it. I never really trust promotional photos, so I was hoping some of our members might have a kilt in it.

There is no such a beast as a "Red Watch" regiment in Canada. I think someone is pullin' your leg there a bit.

ebay's vendor sporranmaker is Toby McGregor kilts and sporrans of Aberdeen. I have heard much positive feedback about his items and dealings, but I unfortunately did not have the same experience. About 18 months ago I purchased off ebay from sporranmaker a red fox full mask dress sporran with chrome cantle mounted behind the ears of the fox mask, arrived in its own labeled cardboard box and looked nice enough, especially considering the price I paid for it. I left it in the box except for a few minutes for some photos, and less than a year after purchase began noticing moths in my kilt closet. In cleaning things out to purge the infestation I opened the fox mask sporran box and discovered about half the fox head eaten and about half the rest of the fur fallen off the skin, with literally dozens of moths littering the inside of the box----the fox face was the source of all the moths in the closet. After performing a full purge eradication of the remaining contents of the closet, and putting in more cedar than one might imagine possible, I contacted Toby MacGregor via the email addresses listed both on his ebay site as well as on the label on the sporran's box, complaining about the moth infestation and destruction of the sporran itself virtually in its entirety (I suppose I could have saved the cantle, but too many moths, eggs, and bad memories attached). His response was terse and disappointing: "Sorry, all sales final." So, regardless of what he might have for sale on his ebay page, I will quietly bypass any further purchases from Sporranmaker, Toby McGregor and his company.

I am happy things owrked out so well for you.

Why do I never think to use the search feature first? *facepalm*

This is what I was talking about.

Matt Newsome already answered my question in this other thread.

I think you posted this on the wrong thread, but thanks for the info!
