Robert Burns Supper, January 28, 2012, Salado, Texas
This past Saturday (Jan. 28th) we attended The CENTRAL TEXAS AREA MUSEUM’s
First Annual "Robert Burns Supper" at the Stagecoach Inn in Salado, Texas. It was a first for us and we had a fantastic evening.
The Buffet dinner was chicken marsala and rosemary pork chops served with red, roast potatoes, vegetable medley, tossed salad, rolls & butter, with carrot cake for dessert.
The haggis was served before dinner with a dram of single malt Scotch. I must say that it was not near as bad as some had led me to believe. I rather enjoyed it.
It was nice to meet some people from X Marks forum. Their photos follow.

I apologize for not being more formally dressed if anyone is offended but I am Jonesing a new jacket that I got for Christmas. Actually no one seemed to mind.

Thanks for sharing. Haggis looks delightful, but where are the neeps and tatties?!
Cheers,

The most important thing about a Burns dinner is fellowship and camaraderie. It looks like a wonderful night glad you enjoyed your first Burns night.

This was also the public debut of my PC and formal accessories. The museum was happy with the response and has pledged to do a "Second Annual" dinner next year. Several of those present also talked about forming a Scottish society here in Central Texas, but more to follow on that. Thanks, Blarney, for posting the pics.

I hate to be the one to say it, but..........
If this is the debut of your NEW PC, maybe you should look to see what's wrong? Maybe the waistcoat is slightly too small, maybe you're wearing your kilt a bit low, but that little white triangle of shirt showing between the waistcoat and the kilt has to be hidden someways. It would make your formal look so much better. It looks like Bobby has the same problem too. Sorry but it is one of my pet peeves. The eyes are just drawn to it. Such a shame for a small detail.
It certainly looks like everyone had a grand time.

i spy Frank Leslie who is top notch at organizing the clan gathering (including the Friday night torch ceremony) for the Salado Clan Gathering & Highland Games each year.

BCAC you're spot on. PC is fine, but I've put on a paunch since cancer surgery. Everything looked good at home but as the evening progressed things succumbed to gravity. The photo was one of the last things done. (I was a little embarrassed when I saw the photo.)
For a first time effort the supper was a real success.
BTW, my wife's cousin lived in Nimes until last summer when he and his wife moved back to Bordeaux.
