Rutland Water - Europe's largest man made lake
Just home from holiday to find there have been over 3,800 posts on this forum in the past two weeks while I've been away - lots of catching up to do!

We stayed in a timeshare property (what the Americans would call a condominium)

With a braw view over the north arm of the crescent shaped lake, across the Hambleton peninsula and to the south arm beyond.

Best way to appreciate the lake was from the Rutland Belle

So all aboard

To fully appreciate this vast tract of water

Normanton Church was deconsecrated in 1970 and is now a museum.

Ann crossing the big dam which is two thirds of a mile long and half a mile thick at its base.

The nearby town of Oakham has some fine old buildings including All Saints Church.
