Scenic Pics of Today's River Trip

Here are some scenic pics from today's float trip through Glen Canyon of the Colorado River.

Here are some Anasazi petroglyphs. Look at ground level and see a second herd of antelope or big horn sheep.

As always, nice pics and a nice outing, Ron.

When do you find time for work? Or have you decided that such an unhealthy and stressful pursuit is "juice that isn't worth the squeeze?"

Thanks. Do work 40+ hours a week in an emotionally charged environment where death is a constant companion....they still give me weekends off. Grateful for MacMillan's Son's visit that drug me out of the cave on the weekend for some fun and frolic.

Amazing all the comments we got - seems folks were much more interested in approaching two kilties with "the question" than just one. Think between us we passed out most of the standard answers.

Great pictures, looks like a fun weekend trip. How old do they estimate the petroglyphs are?

Estimate is the key word. River guides say there are two different ages, some about a thousand years old and some another thousand. Across the river there's a steep trail down the cliffs. The old ones apparenly came down that trail and swam the river to the flat, farmable area on the side of the river where the petroglyphs are. The bighorn are still here though. Caught this pic from a raft a couple years ago.

Thanks Ron. I know from one other set of petroglyphs that I have seen that there can be quite a range of the guessed date. Nice to see these in such a pristine condition with all of the river traffic that must go past each year.
