Scots at the Battle of Stanardsville

This weekend was the re-enactment of the Battle of Stanardsville, Virginia. Last year was a good event, so I went this year. But this year I went kilted to show my support for the 79th New York Volunteer Infantry. While they weren't there, there were some Scots. I was heavily recruited to join the Union re-enactors. Here are some pics of the equipment and battle.

    Drillagent,
Great photos. I haven't been to Stanardsville since 1989. It was my second reenactment as a Confederate Infantryman. Your last photo, the gentleman with his back to the camera looks very familiar . If that is who I think it is, its my long time friend Bill Smith.

I now have a dual impression: 1st is my portrayal of a Union Assistant Surgeon; 2nd is my portrayal of a Confederate Assistant Surgeon. If you've never "done" a reenactment, you're gonna get addicted to it. If nothing else, to learn about the period.

If you were "heavily" recruited to join the Union troops. Its because those numbers hurt drastically, from event to event. Its difficult showing up to an event . . they're being 800 Confederate and 200 Union.

Great photos! Looks like you were a big hit in your kilt.

I've re-enacted my great great grandfather, Samuel Taylor who was a spy for Bobby Lee. Remind me and I will tell you about when I see you next.
