Scottish National toned down..

So I have a kilt in the Scottish National tartan, but always thought it was a bit much for everyday wear, maybe because I wore it to the office Xmas party last year with an Argyll, dress shirt, and tie.

Anyway, I really wanted it to get some more wear, so I decided to pair it with a navy shirt and hose. I like the look the and it does tone it down for me. I also have thought about a bottle green shirt and hose, but that might be too much green.

Navy works with a lot of colors. The combo with that kilt looks good.

P1M, those are actually the standard Gaelic Themes wool kilt socks. In looking at the pic, I agree that they look a little thin, but it must be the angle because they are plenty thick.

I have been told many times to get some off-white/oatmeal hose. Tried once and ended up with cream. Tried again and got stone. Since I like the darker colors, I just stopped trying.

Tone down??

I don't grasp that concept....why tone down???

Even "Loud McLeod" don't need toning down...

Nice look.

That looks awesome, Rob. I really like the tartan and it looks fine for casual.

Just adding my 2 cents. I think it looks very nice also. Definitely something I would wear. Well done.

Thanks guys! I promise oatmeal hose will be at the top of my purchase list for this weekend's Scottish Games and Festival here in Chicago! And since it will just be me and my daughters (my wife is flying out to a reunion), I won't have anybody watching what I buy! Might even be able to spring for a sghian dhub, or even (gasp!) order a Geoffrey Taylor kilt! SHHHhhhhhh, don't think it too lout, she might here...

And MbHandy, that is an XMarks pin, and the jonesing should be over soon. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks or so I will take delivery and start shipping them out to everyone.
