    No, not at all! I put a plastic dust-sheet down to protect the carpet and then simply apply it with an Oatmeal spray gun. It dries within a minute or two (a quick once-over with a hair-dryer speeds up the process), and any surplus material finding its way to the dust sheet can be used again next time.
