Dressed-down kilt: Wales, 1952

From the National Library of Wales,

Dinas Mawddwy Woollen Factory, 1 May 1952

I note the tucked in sweater vest and pushed down hose on the lad.
The lass bears a resemblance to my mother from the same period.

Regards,
Rex.

"Thomas Law was the chief of the Johannesburg Caledonian Society, who assisted the Marquis of Tullibardine in recruiting for the Scottish Horse during the Boer War 1899 - 1902. When the Marquis returned to Scotland in late 1902, Law continued the Marquis. s initiatives to form a powerful regiment on the Witwatersrand, the Transvaal Scottish Volunteers."

this photo is dated 1878, the man's name Willie Duff from Dunkeld, after a dram or two I bet he could tell a tale

1891 see's wee Douglas and Netta Gilmour fishing

Dancing The Reel of Tulloch in 1883

With Maiden Pap and Morven in the background an unamed ghillie 1935

1863 Prince Alfred

and finally to 1935 boys on their way to school on the Isle of Arran

I know I said "and finally" but I just think old Willie is fantastic, here is another photo of him
