really fascinating at how good u handled...
was it all hand stitched?

ur kitchen could have been taken from an austrian house, looks similar to us ;)
so nexttime i ve to add to my kitchen a piece of leather and needles to follow u.

First things first it was my mates kitchen. Mine is similar though

Secondly. The lid, and stiffeners are all hand sewn
and the rosette button and the antler pieces are all hand cut and polished.

The difficulties I had were not having worked with leather before and a Knowledge of sewing at shirt button level. So it's been all uphill.

Having said that. We also found mistakes and made some alterations to the patern from the Thompson book.If you're going to try it, practice before hand we used Cornflakes packets and binliners to make a mock up first.That helped and highlighted some things we hadn't thought of.

The sporran looks so good that I'll have to forgive the pants. Please let us know what discoveries you made while developing your pattern and making the sporran. What changes did you make from Thompsons book pattern?

Basically the lid was made a little larger so that there was enough to fold and sew an edge (I was using a supple leather not a stiff kind )This rids you of a raw edge.

The Stiffener at the back we made a little shorter and the holes it it repositioned. Also the lid/back was folded up to strenghten it as the leather was soft and not stiff.

The sporran is sewn front to back with no gusset as in the book . It's still plenty big enough.We are working on one with.Thats huge

Another thing was the fastening to a belt we had difficulty to see how this should be done .Given the postion of the holes in the diagram. So I got an idea from my shop bought day sporran. It worked well that way. We have made one more where thr belt will run through or you can use the clip and belt like in my gallery.I also added eyelets to all holes to prevent tearing.
