St. Andrews

I was back in St. Andrews yesterday.

A third time around perhaps. I often visited St. Andrews during my student years as although I studied at Glasgow University some of my old school pals went on to St. Andrews University and we would meet up sometimes at weekends. Then a generation later my daughter studied at St. Andrews Uni. This photo of my daughter was taken at the bandstand near the Scores at St. Andrews sea front in September 2000. She went on to graduate with an honours degree in modern history in 2004.

Yesterday, eleven years on, I took a photo of Hayat at the same location.

Another archive shot - the quadrangle at St. Andrews University.

St. Andrews Cathedral

Golf afficionados will recognise this scene.

We walked along the sands all the way to the Eden Estuary, seen in the background here with Tentsmuir Forest in the far distance.

Love the photos! It looks like it was a beautiful day to be out and about. Anyway, can't wait for the next batch of pictures.

If it is not too much trouble, could you please tell me the name of the tartan you are wearing in the first photo?
It is quite eye-catching!

Okay, Alex, now that is just downright cruel taunting me with those photos, less than 9 months since I was last there. I plan on having a portion of my eternal ashes scattered across the 18th fairway of the Old Course, hopefully several years after I get a few more chances of scattering golf balls across the same.
Thanks for the memories.

Royal Air Force tartan.
No sign of kilts at St Andrews neither.
I spotted a young guy wearing a kilt in St. Andrews when I was there this week.

You can often see one or two around the town but there were none visible that I could see in the BBC's coverage of the celebrations in the main Quadrangle behind St Salvator's chapel.
