St. Paddy's Day with the Marines

Had a great time yesterday. My son is a career Marine. He was recently promoted from Gunnery Sgt. to Warrant Officer, and is in Quantico for training. He's been a Rugby player since joining the Marines over 14 years ago, so right now he's playing for the "Hooligans", the Marine Base Quantico team. Yesterday they played VMI at Quantico. My wife and I drove down to see him. I took my pipes, and piped the Marine Corp team on and off the field.

My wife took a minute from worrying about her son being injured to take some pictures. Unfortunately, she didn't get one of me actually playing the pipes.
The three of us went to dinner that evening, then afterwards my son and I joined some of his buddies at a couple of Irish bars. I took the pipes along and had a ball. I don't believe my son or I bought a beer all evening.
Here's a shot my wife took of us as we were leaving the motel room.

I understand the Hooligans are playing up in our area in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to it.
All skill and effort is to no avail when an angel pees down your drones.

Glad you got to see your son's promotion! Congratulations to you both!

And please thank your son for his service on my behalf.
