Talking St.Patrick's Parade in Houston

On Saturday, (3/13/10) I participated with my car club in the 51st Annual Houston St.Patrick's Parade. It was a lovely day for it, and as always I shot a bunch of photos;

The Miata club always shows up about two hours before the step off to dress up our cars... This staging area is a parking lot under the 59 freeway.

Dad working on his 06

My 04 Mazdaspeed Miata. My wife sewed up the shamrock seat covers the night before.

The older MkI Miatas really lend themselves to fun decoration...

Since Dad and I spend too much time planning our decorations, we finish fast! So I cruised around to meet and greet, camera in hand...

Shriners.

The Houston Delorean Owners. These cars were built in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland, so they're a fun fit for the parade.

Some folks in various "Traditional Irish Stereotype" costumes..

A piper with his own HPD escort!

A couple more to come.....

Talking St.Patrick's Parade in Houston II

Waiting for things to start, we wandered over to a nearby pub for a bit,

My friend Cliff from the Houston Highlanders gets an assist with with his playing, the guy was actually pretty good!

And I meet Stacy Ryan, our lovely 2010 Parade Queen.

At Noon the parade stepped off, I took a few shots from the car.

Happens every year, right out of the lot, one of the DMC12s overheats!

A few more:

A great way to spend a lovely day!

Thanks for these pics. It looks like a fine time, and a beautiful day for it. Any more shots?

Great photos Z, as usual.

I haven't seen a Delorean in years (of course moving to the edge of nowhere five years ago probably has something to do with that.) I had a client in Silicon Valley who owned one. I seem to remember he didn't drive it much.

Looks like you had a great time. Hey,...where's the girltorage?

Outside of California, I'd wager that the Houston area has the largest concentration of Deloreans! In 1997, a Houston company acquired the tooling, inventory and distribution rights for the DMC12 and is sevicing and restoring, as well as building new cars here.

I was missing my wife and the Girltorage! They were spread out between the Houston Rodeo and a big Sci-Fi con in Dallas.

I didn't know someone was building them again. Are they only selling locally, or are they starting to move into the national market?

Three events,...you have to spread out to cover them all. Thanks again, for the great photos.
