| | | Stirling Castle Pictures #2
The old Stewart Palace at Stirling Castle.
The building housing the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders museum.
Looking towards the gun battlements and the distant Ochil hills.
Looking over the battlements towards the Wallace Monument.
Zoom towards the Wallace Monument, the light gives it an almost fairy tale quality.
Bill had booked the local pub for lunch but as we walked down the Esplanade I took this view of the Castle.
And the famous statue of Robert the Bruce.
And me doing a quick pose with the plinth!
All photos of the trip can be seen at www.fotothing.com/cleftref

Agreed. Very nice photos!!! I wish I had been able to spend more time at Stirling Castle. My last trip there I only had about 1.5 hours at the place and that had to include lunch.
lastly, MORE, MORE, MORE... Keep up the photo essays!

Wonderful pics Trefor. Next will you be learning to fly like our other gmt tour guide? If you take requests I've heard of a truly brilliant Victorian suspended ferry which I believe is in Cardiff or area.

Not sure about this suspended ferry bit though Derek may be able to give more detail on that. There are sometimes special sailings I believe and the Waverley used to....
I have some pictures from the air to post in due course but they were taken from commercial aircraft.

Nice images, McClef. You're bringing back a lot of wonderful memories. Some bittersweet ones, as well. I was engaged to a young lady that stays about 7 miles east of the castle, so I've spent considerable time in that area. Menstrie, Alva, Tillicoultry, Sauchie, Alloa, Dollar, Clackmannan, etc. <SIGH>
Next time you're up that way, take a drive on north to Sheriffmuir and have dinner at the Sheriffmuir Inn. It's actually just north of Bridge of Allan, yet you would think you are in the middle of nowhere.

Next time I am there Mike it will be in (or on if I go on the Goldwing) my own vehicle so will certainly try out your suggestion!

| The Middlesborough Transporter Bridge perhaps, though its situated in north-east England and not in Wales? Quote: |
