Thumbs up Texas Renfaire Highland Weekend

This past weekend's (11/14-15/09) theme at the Texas Renaissance Festival was "Highland Fling", also my birthday! We were out both days, here's a bunch of photos..

The day started with the the kings sister Margaret Stuart and the Scottish court arriving outside the village gates, with the gift of a kilt for King Henry. But the Beefeaters would not open up until opening cannon!

Finally Queen Catherine Came out and allowed us in!

Queen Catherine and Thomas Woolsey welcome the crowd.

And King Henry VIII, no longer incumbered by the unmanly garb of the lowlander, Welcomes his sister and subjects.

First show for Highland Fling, Tartanic !

    More to follow

    TRF Highland Fling II

Wouldn't be Highland weekend without the kilted stormtrooper!

    Highland Fairies

    Other kind of fairy!

The US Army tartan in a belted plaid. Actually a 'Ancient Kilt ' from Celtic Croft.

    Highland Weekend III

I didn't know there was a Stargate in New Market Village,

    Or a Rabbit hole!

My favorite band, Circa Paleo performs, but the little dude steals the show!

The Bud Lite Centurian...Creative as hell, but wrong on many levels....

Just a few more to come, I promise!

    TRF Highland Weekend IV

Well, we had so much fun on Saturday, we went back Sunday!

Here are Anne and Mary Boleyn, and Princess Mary Tudor, The Boleyn sisters are trying to get me to join the "Bonny Knees" contest. It's hard to refuse, I see why King Henry seems to favor them so....

The Bonny Knees contest, judged by the Queen and the ladies of the various royal courts.

Oh Hell, A girl in a mini kilt! And there's the little kid again! A 2 year old in a kilt is a tough act to beat!

    But Hey! I'm a finalist!

I show 'em my good knee,

And get 3rd place! (a 4 pack of tickets for next season!) not bad for an old dude! My clansman Brandon next to me got 2nd, and the grey beard guy at the far end got 1st.

Excellent Pics! 3rd place is not too shabby, either. I think the Fairy's were particularly cute....
